                                                                                                                    FREE Traffic to YOUR Website!

Many people are still saddled with antiquated MLM training and ideas of how the old multilevel companies were run in the 60’s and 70’s, seemingly forgetting that we are already in the new millennium; And the training in MLM that we have today had already outgrown those times. Some of the more successful marketers have the good fortune of having undergone the proper MLM training to make them more profitable than others. What is the one secret they have learned in MLM training? The secret is choosing a team with an experienced coach who will teach, guide and motivate you towards success.

Of course there are other factors to consider, such as the financial backing of the company, timing, the compensation plan and marketing a consumable product. But if you are not properly trained and motivated during those early months you are almost doomed to failure. I mean, just think about it for a moment; Doesn't every professional businessperson or athlete have a coach to aid in the training. Why should it be different in MLM marketing?

In MLM marketing, you can start your business for less than $500 and literally choose the coach or leader who will be training you. Of course this will involve doing a little background check on the team leader you choose to work with. But in the end, it will be time worth spending.

Here are a few pointers that will help you when seeking out the appropriate coach for your unique needs. A coach who will assist you in your MLM training:

                                        1. Make sure that he or she has a proven track record.

A gifted leader will also prove his or her worth in the results produced. Generally speaking, you will not rise higher than your leader, so know how high you want to reach and find a coach who can get you there.

                                        2. Go with someone who has been training in MLM for many years.

You want a leader who will be like the northern star; bright and steady. Those who are successful network marketers are people who stay for the long haul. Many people give up too quickly and never reap the harvest. Choose a leader who has experienced some bumps in MLM and can now be selective in choosing a company that is most likely to remain out of the MLM graveyard.

                                        3. Find someone who knows how to market.

Network marketing is just that: marketing through networking. An essential part of the equation therefore is the effective marketing of your business. Marketing can eat up a small budget very quickly. Therefore, you must learn the difference between what works in MLM training and what does not work so that you can use your advertising dollars most effectively.

The name of the game is maximum returns for your money. Leverage is the whole idea behind network marketing. This translates into small effort and great gain. Find someone who can train you on how to use MLM tools such as teleconferencing, voicemail, direct mail, the Internet and broadcast media. This is a business so you have to treat it like one.

                                        4. Find someone who continuously studies the industry.

Anyone who claims to be a professional will subscribe to magazines in his area of expertise, attend seminars to keep abreast of what’s happening and keep his MLM training pulse on the industry. Choose wisely because the right opportunity and company may be the vehicle to your success but an effective MLM training coach is like gas in your tank.

MLM marketing networks appear in many different forms on the Web. Some of these companies will even go as far as to tell prospective recruits that they are not MLM or Miuti-level Marketing businesses in one sentence and suggest that you invite your family, friends and neighbors to join their network and everyone of your invitee that joins the network will be placed under you in your downline. Okay, I get it! I understand that MLM represents something negative to a lot of people and these networks to which I refer rather not taint their business operation by referring to it as a MLM.

What is being missed by these networks is the fact that many Web users were at one time or the other engaged in the MLM business and are able to recognize a MLM when they see one and therefore will not be turned off by the fact that an online business is a MLM but would probably be highly insulted by the notion that there is a blatant attempt to mislead them in order to have them join the network. That is a big turn off and therefore has the reverse effect of losing a potentially self-motivated, outgoing, personable recruiter and group leader.

Another error often committed by some these network marketing businesses is gaining the trust of their recruits by making promises they are unable to deliver. Usually a person new to their networks is in search of a good product that is reasonably priced and provides the recruit an opportunity to earn a good enough commission when s/he makes a sale or recruit a another person who joins and makes a sale. Not communicating with your sales force is poor judgement in a MLM network; Folding up your tent and disappearing for any number of days is suspect; Disappearing for weeks is unforgiveable!

The MLM networks of today must realize that they have a responsibility to create and maintain a reputable image so that the MLM marketers that represent their companies and networks while attempting to pedal products/services to friends, family and neighbors can receive a better reception and possible success in completing a few sales. Keeping in mind that the industry already incurred a black eye from the shady activities of the 1980s, the practicle approach to operating a MLM network is to maintain a squeaky clean image that will go a long way in keeping your business profitable for years to come.

In order to succeed in MLM, you are going to need a steady supply of fresh-targeted MLM leads
that are anxious to get started marketing the product, service or Web Innovator Niche business you are offering. MLM lead vendors know this little fact too and they can see you coming a mile away. This can pose a problem for all but the super savvy network marketers and people with extra-ordinary telephone skills.

Here are 5 of the most popular reasons you may want to consider generating your own MLM marketing leads.

                                        1. Quality. When you purchase MLM leads from a leads vendor, you are buying a list of names and contact details that have been generated in a very generic fashion in order to maximize the response rate of the lead generators advertising campaign. These MLM leads are not necessarily generated from the most targeted means of advertising.

These types of leads are not particularly interested in any specific kind of business. When you are using this type of lead you really don't know what kind of business they may be interested in. In the end, you are left spending most of your time sorting through them and this can be a time consuming procedure. Generating your own MLM leads with a website you have control over can change all this and save you a great deal of time and hard-earned money.

                                        2. Responsiveness. MLM leads that you have generated on your own are usually much more responsive than leads that you would have purchased from a leads vendor. Most likely they have not been contacted by several different network marketers and their name has not been sold over and over again by some of the leads vendors out there.

Leads that you generate are as fresh as you can get them and they are exclusive to you only

                                        3. Real-Time Leads. One of the most popular reasons for a network marketer to generate their own MLM leads is that you can receive them in real-time which is of enormous benefit to his/her direct/network marketing business.

This is especially powerful for people who are in the bigger-ticket items business opportunities and they need the highest quality lead they can get. Nothing beats having company specific real-time leads in your inbox waiting to be contacted about your product or opportunity.

                                        4. Custom Surveys. When you are the lead generator you have full control over the questions you want to ask your prospects. You can simply qualify or disqualify leads based on the questions they have answered on your lead capture page. It is a wise idea to always run a "Comments or Questions" or "Tell Me about You" space on your lead capture page.

Not every single prospect will fill these fields out but when they do it will be the most valuable piece of information you receive next to their name and number. Anything a prospect is willing to share with you before the initial contact is like an icebreaker.

                                        5. Cost.  Generating your own MLM leads can actually save you a lot of money if you spend the time to setup some solid advertising campaigns. Like many leads companies on the web you would not have the high cost of employees either. Your cost to generate your own leads will be your advertising costs and any other tools you may be using such as lead capture pages and auto responders.

These are just a few reasons you may want to consider generating your own MLM leads for your specific product, service or Web Innovator Niche business. It could make a difference in how effectively you market your program.

One feature that could be viewed as unique to Multi-level Marketing business is the Upline. It can be a positive part of a new MLM recruit or his downright failure. When your friend or relative invites you to join the business that s/he joined a few days before inviting you, your first impulse is to check it out so you don't hurt the person's feeling, especially after witnessing his/her excitement and eagerness to get going and become successful because..."This is it".

If you're not very experienced in the business of MLMs you probably wouldn't know that your friend/relative will become your upline if you decide to join the company and become a distributor; And since you would not be aware of the inner workings of a MLM it's reasonable to assume that you would be a little bit in the dark regarding what you are expected to do in order to be successful as your friend/relative said you will be when s/he uttered the words..."This is it"

Of course you would have paid the required sum(s), received your kit and given the meeting schedule. Yes, meeting schedule! Something you hadn't expected because you have a job that you go to on a daily basis (weekdays, hopefully) in order to support your family and you'll probably have to spend less time with your family because of the time it will take to attend the meeting. But, you've committed your money and therefore must commit your time if you wish to succeed because..."This is it."

You may have already heard from your upline's upline or his/her upline the frequently repeated chorus of adages similar to this one; "...successful people do the things that unsuccessful people refuse to do," and several similar quotes questioning your commitment to success. You decide to question your immediate (friend/relative) upline regarding the degree of success s/he has achieved just to learn that you must 'hang in there' and 'stay the course' because 'no one becomes successful overnight'. "You have to believe..."This is it"

Had you known a little more about the MLM type of business, you might have asked your (friend/relative) upline what his/her level of success was and how long it took to attain that degree of success. You might have asked for the exact plan (blueprint?) s/he used to achieve success and follow it without wavering; And if you ran into a problem you couldn't solve yourself, you might have had a personal meeting (just the two of you) and get some instructions, solved the problem and reached your first goal; Instead you find yourself saying..."Okay, this is it!

Because you did not question your (friend/relative) upline either because you couldn't ask the right question(s) for lack of enough data about the business or because you were in a meeting and the question you asked your (friend/relative) upline was directed to the uppermost upline in attendance at that meeting. So you did get an answer but you felt in your heart that you would not have gotten that answer from your immediate upline. S/he was not able to answer it in the way that it was answered and still remain your trusted friend/relative because s/he was not a business person, only a nice person; And you realized..."So that's it."

However, you continue through the motions with the handshakes and artificial enthusiasm knowing that you haven't achieved any degree of success, you are now several hundred dollars down (unexpected expenditures like, business materials, including brochures, business cards, meeting attendance fees, etc., etc., etc.) and the upline (all-the-way-to-the-top-upline). Thinking back on the initial invitation to this business you can't seem to recall being told that the materials you need in order to achieve success would be so costly. Your (friend/relative) upline was never capable of preparing you for what you were expected to do in order to achieve success, because s/he never achieved success either. You would finally come to the realization that..."That's it! I quit!

How would you like to be part owner (or owner) of every business with which you spend your money? As a follow-up to that question, and for purposes of this article, let's create the hypothetical scenario which puts you in an ownership position of your superstore, pharmacist, gas station, auto dealership, real estate loans agency, mortgage lender, insurance broker, and any other business at which you spend your money for products and service on a regular basis, or even once in a while. As an owner of these businesses, it would be rather silly to shop elsewhere, wouldn't it?

Now let's decide how your shopping for personal and household items is treated in your own businesses. You would probably have determined an amount you would pay for these items so that the cash flow of your businesses is not affected negatively even if you didn't pay full retail price for the products and services you consume. At the same time you would want to gauge what your return would be as a result of the money you have spent in these businesses (all your own) and compensate yourself according the business plan and payroll budget.

What would that payroll budget show for your own personal income from those businesses that you own? How much would you pay yourself from the proceeds of your businesses, how often would you pay yourself? Would your earnings be salary, commission or a percentage of the gross revenue of the businesses? How much would your employees earn?

Would you expect them to support the business which pays them? And would you give each employee the opportunity to share in the profits generated from those businesses? They would obviously be trained, but would the training be free of charge or would they have to pay for training in the operation of your businesses?

                                        These and many more questions like them occupy the minds of would-be business owners throughout the United States and indeed, the civilized world, on an ongoing basis and the answers are not always crystal clear or available at the times the questions are being asked. For although there is the usual business plan prior to creating a logo or printing up the business cards and other stationary, the day-to-day operations of the business from opening day seldom goes according to plan;

But there is one element of your businesses that is as predictable as the sun rising in the east: Once the doors are opened, the sign goes up and the lights turned on, the bills-flow (operating expenses) would have been activated and therefore will continue for as long as you own your businesses, whether they are profitable or not.

Keeping in mind the hypothetical expenses discussed earlier, let's keep those businesses, purchase our personal and domestic products and services from them, and pay ourselves according to a pre-arranged amount (percentage of income generated), and offer a similar earnings method to others for their help in building our business while they work toward building theirs.

Let us determine the amount of time we will commit to these businesses in order to build them up to a point where the income derived from them will be sufficient enough to support our household necessities and business materials. Let's begin to operate our businesses immediately after making the decision go into business. Let's not worry about the expenses that existed while we had owned them under the hypothetical scenario above.

Let us operate our businesses without the worry of having to repay a business loan(s) which would have been necessary in the hypothetical scenario above, or pay the utility bills; or the business tax; or the corporation expenses; or the inventory (if a product); or payroll for our employees; or equipment breakdowns. Or any of the expenses (expected and unforeseen) in the hypothetical scenario. Let us make the determination right now that the only thing we need to do in order to operate our own business is to decide to operate our own business.

And if we decide to do it, then let us do it without having to pay one penny upfront or at any other time to operate those businesses, unless we wish to make a purchase for our own personal, domestic or business use. This is not hypothetical, it is real. Welcome to your own businesses minus the operating expenses! Only you will determine if it is to be a MLM business based solely on how many friends (helpers) you share it with.

There are many others I work with, which you will learn about once your decision is made to operate your own businesses. Part of the training is recorded on audio presentations 1 and 2. It's a good idea to listen to both of them for some perspective on how the company pays us even though we are charged nothing.

There are a number of reasons why a MLM Home business is so attractive to a some people, but the two most attractive features are the prospect of earning a lot of money and being your own boss. MLM home business has never been more popular and easier to promote than it is today. With the emergence of electronic tools and other gadgetry, coupled with the Internet, your task of promoting a MLM home business has been made much easier.

Very few business types can boast the popularity and ease of use that the MLM home business can and yet there are those concerns, shared by many, about the legitimacy of the MLM home business and the industry as a whole. These are concerns which existed in the late 1970s and 1980s which were the result of a few rogue companies which set up as Multi-level marketing businesses but were nothing more than schemes to separate unsuspecting folks from their money.

Working at home in your blue jeans, never going to an office, and making more money than the people you might have worked for when viewed through the eyes of the goal setter are components of one reasonably achievable objective which ultimately is what every entrepreneur and Mulit-level work-at-home marketer starts out to achieve, but the steps which must be taken accomplish this objective are usually what some MLMers fail to implement.

Once an MLM business is established and well under way, a typical week might take 3 to 5 hours of some form of enjoyable work to keep your network running smoothly. On the other hand  Your work day could consist of more hours than a normal work day on a "9 to 5" job simply because of mismanagement, laziness and lack of enthusiasm which is an integral part of an MLMer job description. Bear in mind that in a MLM business most of the work has be done in the early days, weeks and months in order to establish your down lines and have a steady stream of income before you can start enjoying those 3 to 5 hour weeks.

There are also no magic bullets, books, software, devices, meetings, or tapes that can make the MLM business any harder or easier.  Many years ago, just the thought of MLM affiliate programs, franchises and home businesses were enough to scare people off. The reason? All the extra hours that people anticipated working in order to make enough revenue just to pay the expenses (phone, gas, products, etc). Today affiliate programs help to keep the MLM industry among the top producing industries in the world.

Reading, studying and learning about MLM home business is among the most effective steps one could take to prepare for life as a Multi-Level Marketer. Then it would be up to the marketer to determine how he or she can input those lessons in his/her own MLM home business. In order to build your MLM home business, you need to understand one simple aspect. It is a business and definitely not a hobby. Also remember that nothing is free. So it is best to understand up front that you are going to spend some time and money. It's That simple.

Find a product or service that you really like. Join a company that sells just that. Then build your own MLM home business using a system that can work using the internet. If this is like the other types of business, you will need the necessary business skills to run the new venture and ensure success. However, an MLM home business marketer needs no special skills to run their multi-level system. Any skill network marketers may need, they can acquire while running their MLM home business based from their marketing plan.

MLM home business is a smart business for anyone wishing to start a home-based operation. There are many benefits to MLM home business. It cost next to nothing to get started, you get a proven system like that of a franchise opportunity and you can be in profit in months rather than in years. Therefore, if you desire more income while still working a 9 to 5 job, or to build your retirement income then you should seriously consider MLM home business as your vehicle.

However, there are some shared personality traits that are common to those who have started and are currently operating an MLM business. One of the most common personalities inherent among MLM business people is their entrepreneurial spirit.  So what are some of these traits that make up an MLM entrepreneur?

Being a Self-starter is the first similarity:

Self-starters are people who do not just sit around thinking about something over and over again while no action is taken to get things done. They decide on what needs to be done and simply do it.  For example, you are in need of your own MLM website but due to  income constraints you are unable to hire a web design company to create that site. As a self-starter, you would get to with gathering all the information pertinent to web design and development.

Then you would develop and design your site. In the end you would have a website that you have developed yourself which suits your purposes, even though it may not be perfectly designed pursuant to the models (templates) used by high-priced Web designers and developers. One vital trait of a self-starter it to know their strengths and weaknesses and be able to accept them.

                                        Self-motivated individuals.

The self-motivated MLM individual has a lot of motivation and drive. Because each person is a unique being, one person's motivations may be different from those of all others. In fact, that is true more often that it is not.

For example, your motivation for starting your MLM business could be to earn $500 or $1,000 per month or $10,000 or $20,000 per month. Or it could be that you want to home school your kids, and that requires earning an income while working from home.

Your level of motivation to a large measure will be dependent upon your purpose and level of commitment. It depends on how big your dream is because the loftiness of your dream - one may refer to it as your ambition or objective - determines the level of your commitment.

                                        Creative.

The creative individual has a lot of great ideas. They are usually able to come up with good ideas and problem-solving solutions. Many of their ideas are often the results of listening and observing other business that is related to MLM. They focus on finding solutions, rather than dwelling on the challenges.

For example, if you have a limited advertising budget, you would get to work finding all the available free advertising avenues instead to thinking over and over how limited your budget is. Your creativity would result in expanding your MLM advertising program. You would also have the knowledge from research. Thus, resolving the problem and creating an additional income.

                                        Self-disciplined.

Self-disciplined individuals are folks who do not need someone standing over them in order to get something done. Or having someone tell them what, how and when to do it. They do not need someone telling them to get something done. They are able to determine what needs to be done, then set aside time for it and do it.

An MLM business may fail, many do first time around. But the self-disciplined individual does not accept that s/he is a failure. s/he simply learn from the mistakes and use them as a tool to attain success. As an entrepreneur in MLM you should be able to adapt. You will find yourself playing different roles such as: marketer, promoter, public relations person, motivator, sponsor, Webmaster...and so forth. You are not afraid of chance and are opened and flexible to them.

Successful businesses are not built over night but over time. As a MLM entrepreneur you are willing to go the extra mile to put forth the time and effort needed to build a successful business organization.

                                        Author's Observations:

Here's a great New York Times story which relates in the manner of the entrepreneurial spirit mentioned in the blog. In fact, there are possibly other similar descriptions you may find. See how many similarities you can find in the blog and the NYT story. Just for fun.

Multi-level marketing is a business model where salespersons like sales consultants, distributors, and even franchise owners and independent owners work in harmony to increase the sales of a product, on commission basis. This is more like a franchise arrangement where sales of the product depend on the combined effort of each franchise and regional manager. There are multiple levels of people receiving commission. Usually there are seven or more levels. The true nature of Multilevel marketing is based on a combination of franchising and direct marketing.

This concept started in 1980s when most of the companies started handling the stocking and distribution issues and indulged in compensating all the individuals involved. This increased the interest of each member in promoting sales based on the chance to earn bonuses and since then the Multilevel Marketing companies have taken the responsibility of taking orders, shipping goods, and paying revenue. Things became easier with the transition to the Web. Product promotion, advertising and sales were made online and hence, the whole process took on the Web definition of online MLM/network marketing.

There are various MLM compensation plans. According to the uni-level or stairway breakaway plans there are two types of distributors involved; managers and non-managers. According to certain matrix plans, the width of each level in a distributor’s group is regulated. In binary plans, the limit of each level’s width is comprised of two legs. Commission was paid when both the legs reached a specific target. In the elevator scheme, distributor's pay splits after a certain number of units have been paid.

Commissions are paid in two ways. The first is that commission is paid only if the product is sold and the second involves paying commission even if the customer just signed-up, without having to make any purchases. Because of the second method, illegitimate schemes disguised as MLMs and illegal pyramid scams came about. Under such scams intermediate members encouraged (arm-twisted) proxy customer sign-ups in order to boost their own commissions, and they enticed willing participants to buy more products than they could ever sell.

However, as most of these businesses present themselves as legal, people began taking precautions against being "roped" into no-win situations. Hence it bacame better to approach businesses that follow the first method of commission, where it’s compulsory to make a sale and not just recruit customers. Here money isn’t paid for customer sign-up at all. MLM marketing is being practiced all over the United States and in hundreds of other countries.

In 1979, Amway Corporation was accused of price fixing. They exaggerated sales claims, while their distributors sold the products at the minimum price. After that, FTC issued warnings to all multi-level companies whose commission was based on recruiting and not sales. In 2006, all the business sellers including MLM organizations were asked to provide customers with thorough information, according to the Business Opportunity Rule introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, so as to save them from deception. Before that many motivating programs were started which hid the truth. Such programs were known as cult programs, but took on other negative names (pyramids, scams, and illegal money networks), as time passed.

Laws have been made stronger. As a measure, pyramid schemes are banned in most of the countries, an effort led by the United States. All the newly hired salespeople have to bare the cost of initial training and material. Some independent distributors even have to buy a large enough amount of inventory in order to support their distributorship businesses. To test the legality of MLM marketing, companies have implemented the 70% rule which means that members (distributors) are restricted from over-loading product inventory so as to increase their commission. Based on today's standards, only when seventy percent of the inventory is sold can orders be made for new product.

                                        Blogs and profits are synonymous!
Achieving good sales is the ultimate target of any multi-level marketing organization. Many criteria, such as competitive pricing, attractive product, reaching out to the right audience and motivational advertising, are responsible for much of the success in this type of marketing, also referred to as direct marketing.
                                        Professionalism breeds success!

There is however, one aspect in addition to all the others that attract "customers" to MLMs which is not present in most other businesses and that is appeal to the entrepreneurial trait in many of the individuals who embrace the MLM business venture.

Power networking means exactly how it sounds!

All other efforts will be futile if the correct audience or niche is not recognized and pursued. It is the major factor in getting abundant sales, because the right customers are not only invited to view or sample your product, they are presented with a plan under which they can promote and sell the product to earn "extra money" which is usually in addition to their secure salaried jobs so that the MLM invitation appears to be a "can't miss" undertaking to the right market.
Some Affiliate marketers are already millionaires!

This niche market is where your sales will be made because in the majority of instances these customes are already sold on the product and will be happy to buy it. However, being able to purchase at wholesale like the "big boys" do and resell at a profit thereby fulfilling their consumer needs as well as generating revenue created the ideal circumstance under which their underlying dreams of ultimate success would be pursued and hopefully achieved.
A Traffic generating machine. Set it and leave it!

There are many success stories to be told about individuals who started their own business with a very small amount of money (investment) and made it to millionaire status.
It is this kind of appeal to the individual, the little man, that is one of the main reasons this type of marketing gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s, decades during which a number of shady characters parading as honest businessmen operating MLM companies perpetrated illegitimate activities as a result of which many consumers were cheated out of significant sums of money.
One Free eBook! Many Trips to the Bank!

These actions compelled the federal government and several state governments to enact laws to combat the scams that were taking place in the name of multi-level marketing. Fortunately the MLM industry survived that dark episode in its history and is thriving today with many success stories being told.

Personal Trainers educate, motivate and actuate achievement!

Because of the MLM structure, small independent businesses (usually one person or a married couple) were no longer afraid to compete with large companies who produced and distributed products on a larger scale to serve larger markets.

Making money as an affiliate with a simple plan.

Larger companies were already structured to operate with an overhead and meet certain stock holder expectations whereas the MLMer worked out of his/her home and did not incur the proportionate level of expenses (salaries, corporate and business taxes, commercial tax, etc.) experienced by the larger company.
The Story is True, and the Money is Real!

Nor was the MLM company under any obligation to reimburse the independent contractor MLMer for expenses. The Multi-level marketing approach to doing business is a uniquely niche-oriented type of business that works for the MLM company as well as the independent-minded MLMer; a niche market made for that business type.

                                        What is MultiLevel Marketing?

The basic definition of multilevel marketing according to Statutes adopted in the 1980s and 1990s: Any person, firm, corporation or other business entity which sells, distributes or supplies for valuable consideration, goods or services through independent agents, contractors or distributors, at different levels wherein participants in the marketing program may recruit other participants, and wherein commissions, cross-commissions, bonuses, refunds, discounts, dividends or other considerations in the program are or may be paid as a result of the sale of such goods and services or the recruitment, actions or performances of additional participants.

For the purposes of this blog Multilevel marketing is one form of Direct Marketing that is often compared to Network Marketing. It is a kind of business where distributorships and direct selling are combined; the type of business that attracts independent-minded individuals (many entrepreneurs are direct marketers)  based on the franchise-like structure common to this business-type; the type of business which offers products/services for sale at wholesale prices pursuant to "Independent Contractor" agreements or contracts. Individuals agreeing to do this kind of business are known as  independent contractors or direct marketers and will resell the products/services to end users at retail prices which creates income through the profits generated.

Some  criticism prior to the Statutes and Regulations which were adopted in the early 1980s led to major changes in the multi level marketing industry when many companies started to allow their members to concentrate only on recruit marketing and not on distributing or stocking the product. Most modern-day multi level marketing companies perform the administrative duties by undertaking the tasks of shipping the product, paying commissions and taking orders from their associates (direct marketers).

Many people who were victims of the illegal pyramid schemes being presented to the public as legitimate multi level marketing companies were required to buy expensive products under the guise of the cost of a business opportunity kit, but most of these schemes have not lasted because either the companies were closed down (voluntary or involuntary) based on the 1980s law; or most of the products were not easily resold and the market for that product or service brand dried up.

Interestingly enough the multilevel marketing companies that were legitimate and have demonstrated honesty and goodwill during the last two decades are still operating today and doing very well. Companies such as Amway, Pre-Paid Legal, Tupperware, Avon, Herbal Life, Medifast, Xango, Primerica, and Shaklee, among others are reporting profits and conducting their business pursuant to ethical business standards.

Additional information relating to legitimate MLM companies can be found at the MLM Watch Dog website

A recent USA Today article features a MLM story in which a truck driver went from laid off to what he started as a temporary side part time MLM business while he sought employment and after two years stopped looking for a job because his part-time business which he did with his wife was now supporting the family. Part of the article headline "...recession-Proof jobs". Take a look!

Obviously those people left "holding the bag" (so to speak) with no opportunity to sell the stocked products or paid-for services were very upset and therefore were instrumental in creating a lot of the image problems suffered by the direct marketing industry. This fallout is a necessary consequence of corporate identity theft on a grand scale.

Although the image of Multilevel Marketing have in the past been tarnished as a result of shady outfits operating illegitimate and illegal “pyramid schemes” or Ponzi schemes, the MLM industry as a whole has managed to successfully rid itself of the negative image by educating the public and demonstrating to the government the legitimacy of direct marketing which today is a respectable business providing many of the products and services consumed on a daily basis, as well as affording many enterprising men and women a method of self-employment through "individual distributorship" businesses.

Refer to the above USA article or one of my early articles titled "Recession? Forget Recession" with the sub heading: "Diamond Rewards is Recession-Proof"  The growth and popularity of “home based businesses” over the last decade is another positive result of the legitimacy and respectability of direct marketing as practiced through multilevel marketing systems.

Global network marketing at your fingertips!

Commissions are earned by selling a particular product or service in a legitimate network marketing business. There can be no earnings in what is commonly referred to as a “sign up fee” or for self-recruitment. This kind of marketing is sometimes criticized because of the terrible image created by illegitimate scam or ponzi schemes that existed prior to governmental regulations that chased many (or most) of them from the industry. They are hopefully gone from the industry forever.
